for LiveOnPurpose.info. Live On Purpose is about helping you become conscious
of your thought patterns, so you can make better decisions
in your life. Don't live an accidental life! Live on purpose.
This month's focus is on transformation.
But first, an On-Purpose maxim:
Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves, they therefore remain bound. ~James Allen
Here is a synopsis of the posts from the Live on Purpose blog this past month:
Sustainable Dave saves his trash
Being a responsible steward of the Earth takes practice, especially when it comes to changing our habits. Here I link to a blogger who is doing a year long experiment in waste reduction by putting his trash in his own basement! We find that practice and persistence lead to purpose, when it comes to forming new habits.
Meditation benefits
What kind of mental image does the word “meditation” conjure for you? I give an explanation of what mediation means for Christians, with cited Bible verses. I give two links for further study and a question for consideration on the reasons people meditate.
You choose, for fun
I take a trip down memory lane and post pictures of some tongue in cheek novelties from an international trip. Living on purpose doesn't have to be all seriousness, all the time, you know!
Purposeful living; consumer choices
I encountered a lady buying pesticides for a bedbug infestation and counseled her on alternative solutions. We make choices every day; are they based on convenience or research?
Here is your uplifting inspirational image for a desktop wallpaper on your computer. Please forward this message to your friends, and encourage them to subscribe!
The wallpaper for the month of August has been archived on the main wallpaper page. It is about transformation. The image is my own original photography of a butterfly with this quote: "As I transform myself by living on purpose, I transform the world."
The short story behind this image is interesting: I found a great entry on What's My Purpose? and I left my comment there, not knowing that my own comment would become the quote I needed for this wallpaper! The entry was about how Olympians are living their purpose, and the more people who live this way, the happier the world becomes. As we search out our purpose, we transform ourselves.
Speaking of the Olympics, plenty of bloggers are talking about them. Here is Simpleology's blog post on winning at the olympics and then being disqualified. This is a very nice story about perserverence. And by the way, if you don't know about Simpleology's service, check it out. This is an entire course designed to help you learn how to get what you want, and how to tell the difference between what you want and what you don't! If you want to live on purpose and minimize the time you waste vs your productivity time, then join Simpleology 101 for free.
When I think of the symbol of the butterfly emerging from the cocoon, I immediately think of transformation. Even in dream symbology, the butterfly stands for transformation. If you need transformation in your life, perhaps it's time to learn about life coaching and what a life coach can do for you. Below is Wikipedia's definition of a life coach:
Wikipedia: Life Coaching
"...life coaching is unlike therapy because it does not focus on examining nor diagnosing the past. Instead coaching focuses on effecting change in a client's current and future behavior. Additionally, life coaching does not delve into diagnosing mental dysfunctions.
According to a survey of coaching clients, "sounding board" and "motivator" were the top roles selected for a coach. Clients are looking for a coach "to really listen to them and give honest feedback." The top three issues clients seek help on are time management, career, and business."
There are just so many different ways to transform yourself for the better. You don't have to believe you'll be stuck in your rut forever! Whether you enlist the help of a nonbiased coach, or read self-help books from the library, study your dreams, or you step out on your own to learn a new skill or attend a workshop, you'll set the wheels rolling.
I also want to link you to a little bonus: I was reminded of a blog post I made about two years ago about transforming myself by breaking the chains of dysfunctional behavior in my family. Article on Emotional Manipulators. I wrote: "I see it as my mission this lifetime to derail myself from depending on these types of manipulative behaviors, therefore breaking the chain of dysfunction that is passed from mother to child."
